THE closing date to enter this year’s Spire Healthcare English Half Marathon is fast approaching with around 2,500 runners expected to be on the start line at Victoria Park on September 8.
The race which is in it’s 5th year has seen a sizable increase of entries this year from around 1500 runners last year. A new local team is at the helm of the race this year and a local focus appears to be reaping its rewards.
Event Director, Rob Griffiths said: “When my team and I took over the race last year, we had to get some of the basics right. We have focused a great deal on promoting this event across Warrington and across the region. As a local Warrington lad, I am very pleased with growth of entries. We are very optimistic about the future of this race for Warrington.”
Organisers promise much more than the race itself, with over 40 stalls and concessions including a food festival, charity village and live music. The highlight of the RAF Falcons who will parachute onto the start line before running the half marathon is expected to bring a large crowd in to the event village.
Rob added: “To create a successful event there has to be lots on for the family to get involved with. We believe we have a unique event that the whole town can be proud of”
Entries for the race close this Saturday, August 31. For more information visit www.run-ehm.com
