Disappointing defeat for Town

WARRINGTON Town’s pre-season continued with a disappointing 1-5 defeat at home to Newcastle Town from the Southern section of the Evo-Stik League.
The visitors took the lead with a long range free kick but Warrington responded well and scored a well taken equaliser through Ciaran Kilheeney after good work in the box from Ben Wharton.
The goal lifted Warrington who were playing some good passing football and should have gone 2-1 up before the break after the visitors keeper was left stranded outside his area.
But with no goal keeper to beat Warrington couldn’t get a shot on target.
The visitors immediately went up field and scored and added a third before the break.
Manager Shaun Reid rang the changes at the break but Warrington never looked like getting back into the game and went further behind from another direct free kick, with the visitors adding a fifth before the final whistle.
Next up for Warrington is a Stoke City XI on Tuesday evening, kick off 7.45pm.
