WARRINGTON Borough Council’s careers service has been awarded full accreditation from Matrix after a positive nine months since its launch.
The service provides advice and support with a view to ensuring all young people achieve the skills, qualifications and experiences that support progression at 16 into full time education, apprenticeships, or employment with training.
The national Matrix standard is the unique, quality standard for organisations to assess and measure their advice and support services, which ultimately supports individuals in their choice of career.
Cllr Colin Froggatt, executive board member for children and young people’s services, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the service and I am delighted to see that the commitment and dedication to supporting our young people is not only clearly evident but is also having positive results.
“The council is continuing to nurture an environment that allows for the development of skills, training and a wide variety of job opportunities and supporting young people in their career aspirations plays an important role in this.”
As part of the accreditation, assessors made a number of supportive comments about the service including that it is dedicated to its vision of supporting young people to be more optimistic about the future and fulfilling their potential and team members are vibrant and passionate about their work.
Cllr Kelly Simcock, youth champion, said: “It is important to us that our children and young people are provided with the best impartial and effective advice and support together with opportunities to enable them to reach their full potential and achieve their lifetime goals.
“This is a high quality service and I would encourage more children and young people to take advantage of what is on offer and I look forward to more success in the future.”
