PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for revised plans for a supermarket, pub and drive-through coffee shop on the site of the former Fordton Leisure Centre.
The development – similar to one approved in March this year kis expected to provide about 100 jobs in Chiltern Road, Orford.
Members of the borough’s planning committee were told the original scheme involved a 1,418 sq metre supermarket, a drive-through coffee shop of 172 sq metres, a family pub/restaurant of 1,017 sq metres and two retail units of 186 sq metres.
The revised scheme has one additional retail unit.
Fordton Leisure Centre, which was demolished following the opening of the new Orford Park Community Hub, was created in the 1980s by conversion of a former school built around 1930.
The new complex will front on to Winwick Road but will have a narrow strip of land to be landscaped and planted with trees between it and the road.
