New drop-in surgeries launched

A NEW programme of joint drop-in surgeries has been launched by Warrington Borough Council and Cheshire Police.
The aim is to give residents an opportunity to discuss their concerns about police or crime with neighbourhood officers.
Senior Town Hall figures, including council leader Terry O’Neill and chief executive Professor Steven Broomhead attended the launch, along with PCSO Dave Brownlee from the police.
Cllr Hitesh Patel, the council’s lead member for communications, said:
“The surgeries will be held at the Warrington Borough Council contact centre in Time Square, beside Warrington Market, which we hope will be convenient for as many residents as possible. And the surgeries will be held at various times and on various days, to help give residents with different working patterns the opportunity to drop in.”
Cllr O’Neill said: “We think the joint venture will result in an improved policing service for residents and visitors to the town centre, as well as helping the police service to maintain a town centre presence.”
PCSO Brownlee added: “Warrington Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing Unit is committed to tackling the issues that matter to local people. This latest initiative is the result of close partnership working with Warrington Borough Council and will give local people the chance to meet me and other officers from Warrington Town Centre NPU face-to-face, to talk about any issues or concerns they may have, and to get valuable
crime reduction advice.
“Details of the surgeries will be posted on the Cheshire Police website www.cheshire.police.uk and will also be publicised via posters and
leaflets in the town centre.
“Having officers in the contact centre at certain times of the day enables council staff to direct members of the public to us with any policing issues they might have.
“The contact centre is in an ideal spot in a busy and easy-to-reach location and will help the local policing team to further improve links with the local community and to offer reassurance to shoppers and local businesses.”
