Air ambulance in canal rescue

A YOUTH was rescued from a canal at Warrington today after a full-scale emergency turnout, including police, fire and ambulance services and the air ambulance.
The drama was in Sankey Valley Park, off Bewsey Farm Close.
Four fire engines, the fire service rescue boat and a rope rescue team were called to the scene. Appliances from Warrington, Knutsford and Birchwood were involved in the operation.
Fire crews set up water safety equipment and swift water rescue technicians plunged into the canal and rescued the young man.
He was handed over to the ambulance service and taken to hospital.
It is not believed he was seriously affected.
