A SERIES of events held at Warrington’s Priestley College have given students a greater insight into what it takes to reach university or gain employment.
Choices Week saw 11 universities and representatives from a number of companies meet students to discuss their futures.
There were also four activities focussed on apprenticeships – and former Priestley students who are now at university offered advice to those looking at continuing their education after college.
Staff from Futureworks – which provides higher education courses in animation and games design – met Priestley’s BTEC game design year one group.
Head of games at Futureworks Ken Lau and lecturers Ben Hill and Mark Penman gave a talk on their own personal work in the video games industry.
They also showed a range of work from their current graduating students including former Priestley students Josh Campher and Hollie Caddock.
The students also enjoyed a practical game design task, collaborating with each other in generating creative game ideas.
During Choices Week geography students heard from Professor Andy Platter, a lecturer at Liverpool University, whose talk was entitled ‘The Day The Earth Moved’.
