BUMPER numbers of children and families turned out to revel in the activities on offer at Little Stars Children’s Centre in Dallam.
The event, held to celebrate the former Dallam Children’s Centre’s new identity, attracted families from across Dallam, Bewsey, Whitecross, Winwick and Burtonwood.
The Mayor of Warrington Cllr Peter Carey, leader of the council Cllr Terry O’Neill and Warrington Wolves favourite Wolfie were among the guests who turned up to show their support for the centre, who recently achieved their first ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted.
Centre Manager, Dawn Lane said: “So many families came along to help us celebrate, and judging by the looks on their faces, they all had a spectacular time.
“We have worked very closely with local businesses to promote the event and our new identity, encouraging them to support and promote the centre. Many of them supplied us with prizes for our raffle and their support has been overwhelming. One of our aims is to build on our links with the local community and to be part of the regeneration of the area as a whole. There is so much going on here every day, re-launching as Little Stars has really helped us to remind the community what we have to offer.”
Families enjoyed a fun-filled day with a range of exciting creative and informative activities, for children and their parents or carers, including story craft and snackright healthy eating sessions and much more.
The re-naming ceremony was carried out by two-year-old Lucy Dinh who regularly attends the centre.
Cllr Colin Froggatt, executive board member for children and young people, said: “Congratulations to Little Stars for organising a superb event. Children Centres are packed full of information, advice and fun activities all designed to support families and this is a shining example of the important role their play in our communities.”
Kath O’Dwyer, executive director for children and young people’s services, added: “It’s fantastic to see so many families and businesses rally round and support the centre and we all hope that more families are encouraged to make use of and benefit from what’s on offer at all our centres.”
