New Energy Bill to save you money

THE proposed new Energy Bill will save families in Warrington up to £158, according to local MP David Mowat.
Changes will enable people to switch to the cheapest tariff deal in the market for their bill payment method, and the most vulnerable people will see the greatest benefit.
MP David Mowat said: “The cost of living is the number one issue for people I talk to in Warrington. That’s why the Energy Bill matters. The choice today is saving up to £158 with the Conservatives, or paying £61 more under Labour.”
The saving figure comes from Ofgem as part of its Retail Market Review.
Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change, Greg Barker MP, said: “This Energy Bill will put cash back in your pocket. Hardworking families in Warrington will be able to save up to £158, by switching to the cheapest energy tariff, which our plans will give everyone the chance to do.
“Already, as a result of our policies, people are paying 5 per cent less on their gas and electricity bills than they would otherwise be.
“You can’t trust Labour with your money. On Ed Miliband’s watch, electricity got 50 per cent more expensive and we saw the proliferation of a bewildering number of energy tariffs. The Labour leader just doesn’t get it. It’s the same old Labour Party.”

  1. We’re still waiting to see the reduction in fuel and electricity bills, we were promised would come from North Sea Oil and Gas and from nuclear energy. Now apparently we have to put our faith in gas from fracking. On past performance that supposed advantage will also be myth. A report published today says Britain has the highest fuel and food inflation in the EU. We already have the highest railfares, which HS2 will do nothing to ease. So please Mr Mowat spare us the party political rhetoric and actually start bringing costs down.

  2. To me its a MYTH. I am slightly in credit on my utils bills but BG have just upped my monthly payments by £25 to cover the next estimated 12 months and compairing other suppliers I can save approx £40 per year but have a fee imposed if I swap again of £50 per utility. So ripped off no matter which way I turn. I think these figures that are actual speak louder than the figures quoted above.

If David Mowat can save me that much a year he can contact me direct as no website I visit comes anywhere near.
