FIVE candidates will contest a by-election for a vacancy on Winwick Parish Council today.
Polling will take place between 7am and 10pm at Winwick Leisure Centre.
The five candidates are: Kath Cookson (Ind), Andrew Fairfoul (UKIP), Michael Matthews (Lab), David Shaw (Ind) and Carole Thewsey (Con).
The by-election follows the resignation of former councillor Alan Smith.
A by-election is also due to take place for a vacancy on Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council.
The poll will take place on Thursday, June 20.
Candidates are: Roger Cawthorne (Con), Thomas Jennings (Lab), Hasan Kazi (Lib Dem) and Michael Smith (Green).
