AN ambitious cricket club who pulled in thousands of fans when they staged a “legends” day last summer is planning a second, even bigger event this year.
Grappenhall Cricket Club will stage a second “legends” game at their Broad Lane ground on Tuesday, July 30.
There will be two Twenty20 matches – one between a Grappenhall XI and a Warrington Wolves XI as part of Ben Westwood’s testimonial year – and the second an England Legends XI versus an Australian Legends XI.
Both teams will be full of former internationals including Andrew Flintoff and Andrew Ramprakash.
A full line-up will be confirmed nearer the time.
The first game will start at 12 pm with the “legends” game following at 4pm
Tickets are on sale today (Saturday) from the ground, between 12 noon and 6pm on a first-come, first-served basis and will be on sale from Warrington Wolves from May 27.
Proceeds from the event are being split between two charities and the Grappenhall Cricket Club Pavilion Fund
The club is also looking for match day ball sponsors and programme sponsors.
