WARRINGTON maintained their 100 per cent record in the Vivio Cheshire County League with their fourth victory in a row.
Bowling first at Stockport Georgians, they held the home side to 141-8, Kyle Adams taking 4-39.
Warrington got off to a shaky start when they replied, losing three wickets cheaply. But then Paul Farrar, 65 not out and Mike Rudd, 50 not out, came together to bring up the winning total of 142-3.
It’s the best start to a season Warrington have had for some years and bodes well for promotion to the first division.
Warrington 3rd had an exciting four run victory over Upton.
Batting first, Warrington reached 203-5 when then dismissed Upton for 199.
But Warrington 4th came unstuck against Upton, only managing to post 117-6 and then only managing to take four wickets as the visitors coasted to victory.
Grappenhall suffered their first defeat of the season when they entertained Nantwich – winners of the premier division title for the last three years.
Batting first, Grappers could muster only 181 – a below par score compared with recent weeks.
In-form opener Adam Roylance top scored with 63 and there were useful knocks from Mike Sambell, 32 and Aussie Josh McClelland, 35 not out.
But the target was not enough to worry the champions who raced to 182-2 in 37 overs, profiting from some baffling short-pitched bowling from the Grappenhall attack.
Grappenhall 2nd travelled to Nantwich to turn the tables, picking up a two-wicket victory.
Sam Guest took 5-43 as the home side were held to 135-8 and then Iain Wright hit 52 as Grappers replied with 136-8.

Glazebury could only muster 101, Dahou top scoring with 36 not out and Chris Lord 35. But this represented something of a recovery because they were at one stage 40-7.
At Hurst Lane, Glazebury 2nd totalled a respectable 176, John Acton 52, Simon Green 61 against Rylands. G Sujith took 5-37 and Joe Threadgold 3-14.
Rylands replied with 180-7, Threadgold hitting 60, Sean Peters 32 and Phil Mansfield 32 not out.
