Ex-Pat “Checks” out transport event

ONE transport enthusiast who won’t be coming to the first ever Lymm Historic Transport Day this year is ex-pat David Griffiths.
He owns a 1964 double decker that saw service in Warrington Transport and he has in the past organised transport fairs at Victoria Park so he seemed like an obvious contender.
There’s just one snag; David .. and the bus .. are both in the Czech Republic.
David explained: “I moved over here some years ago and warrington worldwide helps me to keep in touch with what is going on as I am naturally still very attached to my home area. I was excited to read that Lymm will be putting on this event and only wish I could be there but the distance is just too great even for me”.
David is also the guardian of an ex-Cheshire police car donated by the force as part of an initiative to strengthen twinning bonds with this part of Europe and both vehicles now feature in a local transport museum.
The Historic Transport Day which takes place on Sunday, June 23, is just part of the eleven day Lymm Festival which kicks off this year as always with the Foodfest at 6pm on Thursday 20.
