THE second phase of a personalised travel planning programme has been launched at Warrington.
As part of the two year project, advisers from the Travel Warrington Team are visiting neighbourhoods in the north of the borough encouraging residents to sign up to a travel plan.
Main aim is to encourage people to travel to work more sustainably.
Advisers visit households and find out current travel patterns and people’s attitude to changing the way they travel.
Personalised travel pack are then prepared for delivery from mid-June and based on information collected during the original visit.
These will include a journey plan, leaflets, guides and timetables.
There will also be “thank you” gifts to reward people for taking part in the programme, including bus ticket vouchers, pedometers and cycle lights.
All people taking part will also be entered into a draw to win £100 in shopping vouchers.
Cllr Linda Dirir, the borough council’s executive member for highways, transportation and climate change, said: “I am very pleased that we managed to secure funding for this project from the Department for Transport’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund.
“We want to encourage more people to take up more active forms of travel, such as walking, cycling and public transport as we know that it will help them save money, get fit and healthy, and help the environment.”
