WARRINGTON Town maintained their push for the play-offs with a convincing 4-1 victory over Wakefield FC at Cantilever Park.
In a scrappy first half Warrington took the lead on 27 minutes through a Ciaran Kilheeney penalty after John Miles had been tripped in the box.
But within 30 seconds of the re-start the visitors were back on level terms with a through ball finished of by Caldon Henson who caught the Town defence napping.
Although Warrington had the better of the chances, with the Wakefield keeper making a couple of good saves it remained 1-1 at the break.
But Warrington turned up the pressure after the break and were eventually rewarded when centre back James McCarten headed home from a corner, thanks to a deflection on 58 minutes.
Then Miles scored direct from a free-kick on 65 minutes, with Kilheeney providing the icing on the cake in the 90th minute as Town finished the game strongly.
In a solid team performance new signing Andy Fowler from Marine impressed in midfield.
The victory saw Wire move up to 7th in the table, just one point off a play-off place.
