CHINESE New Year celebrations – featuring a Lion Dance and Kung Fu demonstrations – will be held in Warrington on Sunday February 17, as the local Chinese community celebrate the year of the Snake.
Oriental Friendship Group is hosting the celebrations from 12 noon until 4pm at Fairfield and Howley Neighbourhood Project, Fairfield Street.
There will be Lion Dance, Wing Chun Kung Fu taster session, a children play area and festival stalls. Everyone is invited to join in the fun and celebrate the Year of the Snake.
Since last year the friendship group has been providing activities and networking sessions for Oriental families living in Warrington. Members celebrated The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, went to Lake District for a summer day trip and took part in various events throughout the town.
This year the group will focus on providing more classes such as Mandarin and basic conversational English
