Fire crews from Stockton Heath went to the house in Clelland Street after the alarm was raised.
They found the fire – involving the cooker – was out. But the woman occupant of the house was suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.
Firefighters administered oxygen and called for an ambulance which took the woman to Warrington Hospital.
A high pressure ventilation fan was used to disperse smoke.
