Village gets involved in Climate Week

RESIDENTS, schools, businesses and community groups at Lymm are being given a chance to get involved in Climate Week – Britain’s biggest climate change campaign.
Community group Low Carbon Lymm will be holding a presentation evening on Monday, March 4 when details will be given.
Climate Week aims to inspire a new wave of action to create a sustainable future.
It is backed by every part of society – from the Prime Minister to Paul McCartney, the NHS to the Met Office, the TUC to the CBI, Girlguiding UK to the National Association of Head Teachers.
During the last Climate Week, more than 3,000 events were attended by half a million people across the UK.
The Climate Week Awards recognise the most inspirational and impressive actions taking place in every sector of society.
Lymm residents, businesses and schools will be able to put forward nominations for this year’s awards which showcase projects and initiatives from organisations ranging from government departments to community allotments, large businesses to local faith groups, businesses, etc.
Low Carbon Lymm wants to showcase how the village is becoming a sustainable community and is inviting nominations across a range of award categories:
* Best Initiative by a Small Business
* Best Community Contribution
* Best Educational Contribution
* Most Inspirational Young Person (two Awards – Under 12 and Under 17)
* Resident of the Year
* Local Food Supplier of the Year
Nominations must be from residents of Lymm, pupils at local schools or businesses based in Lymm.
The deadline for nominations is Wednesday February 20.

Low Carbon Lymm is a not-for profit group, promoting low carbon living in the Lymm community.
Climate Week is March 4-10.
