No Super Prison for Omega

THE Omega site at Burtonwood is not being considered for a new Titan Super Prison according to Warrington South MP David Mowat.

Mr Mowat has met with Justice Secretary Chris Grayling, who has confirmed that Omega is not being considered as an option.
Following the Ministry of Justice’s recent announcement that they were actively seeking a site in the North West of England, North Wales or London, there were fears that
the previous Labour Government’s Titan proposal for Omega could be back on the table.
However, Mr Grayling, a former Parliamentary candidate for Warrington South, has now confirmed that Omega is not one of the sites currently being considered. Omega has previous been described as one of the most important strategic development sites for business in the North West.
Welcoming the news Mr Mowat said:“I am pleased that the threat of a super-prison has been lifted. The Omega site was meant to create jobs and growth for the people of Warrington, not used a warehouse for criminals.
“I sought a meeting with Chris Grayling at the earliest opportunity to get him to rule out Omega and I’m pleased that that has now happened.”
