Matthew bears all in Festival show

FAMOUS for sticking his hand up a bear’s bottom Matthew Corbett makes a welcome return to the Lymm Festival circuit with his aptly named “25 years sticking your hand up Sooty’s bum!”

In fact Matthew aka Peter, which is his proper name, the later being a stage name, will span half of century of the little bear’s career.
Coincidentally his father Harry worked with Sooty for 25 years, just like Matthew, before he sold the rights to a Chinese bank!
For one night only, Matthew will be appearing in his one man show at the Lymm Hotel on Thursday, February 28 at 7.30pm – and tickets priced just £10 are selling out fast, following Matthew’s video interview on warrington-worldwide.
The show is not suitable for children, warns Matthew who will takes the audience down memory lane from the extraordinarily lucky (and some very unlucky) breaks of the early years including clips of Harry and Sooty from 1955, Harry’s near fatal heart attack, then Matthew taking over “the business” and Harry trying to make “a come-back”.
Snippets from the show include discovering that Sooty was in the Guinness Book of Records as “the world’s longest running TV show” and that the BBC banned Soo from being introduced into the show because it would be “introducing sex into childrens’ TV!
Also did you know Sooty has his own OBE? Or that Sooty and Matthew appeared on the Russell Harty TV chat show with …. Jimmy Savile! (now there’s a tale!)
There are some classic “out-take moments” and colourful montages of that period including Matthew’s hysterical last show with Gerry Marsden.
Talking of old rock stars, Matthew can (and does) name-drop with the best of them ….. he’ll tell you how George Harrison asked him to sign an autograph and then .. well we won’t spoil the story.
A great evening’s entertainment, laughter, tears and your memory banks well and truly stirred up !
When the show is over, Matthew will gladly answer any questions before saying goodbye in the time honoured way:
“Bye Bye Everybody, Bye Bye.”
Tickets priced £10 available on-line at www.lymmfestival.org.uk (+50p to cover processing cost)
or from Lymm Electric or Rushgreen Services.
