Police hunt handbag robbers

POLICE are appealing for information after a 40-year-old woman was robbed of her hand bag in Warrington on New Year’s Eve.
The incident occured at about 10pm on Monday 31 December 2012, when the victim was walking along Folly Lane when she was approached by two men who attempted to grab her handbag from her shoulder.
One of the men pushed the woman to the floor before taking the bag. The two men then ran off in the direction of Winwick Road.
The victim suffered cuts and grazes to her hands and knees as a result of the incident but did not require hospital treatment.
The first man is described as white, about 5?11″ tall with a slim build. He was wearing a blue or black waterproof coat and black trousers.
The second man is described as white, about 5?4″ tall with a slim build. He was wearing a jacket and dark coloured trousers.
DC Simon Fisher of Warrington CID said: “We take all reports of this nature extremely seriously and are doing all we can to trace those responsible.
“We ask that anyone with information contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 855 of 31 December 2012.
“Information can also be left anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.”
