More successes for jobs club

A FURTHER 20 people have completed training with Warrington Jobs Club – including interview techniques and CV writing.
The club, founded by David Mowat MP for Warrington South (pictured), has helped almost 200 people back into work or training since 2009.
This year, in addition to the skills sessions, participants were also able to attend the Enterprise Club which provides help and support for those wishing to start their own business.
Both clubs draw on the skills of local business people to mentor participants and provide practical advice and support.
Mr Mowat has organised a jobs fair to take place at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday February 8, and details can be found at www.warringtonjobsfair.com
He said: “In today’s challenging job environment, everyone is looking for an edge – that little something extra which makes you stand out during the application process and that’s what the Jobs Club provides.
“I’m also very proud of the Enterprise Club. We are seeing more and more people deciding to start their own business. The support network we provide will help these new businesses flourish.”
Louise Barker is one of those who have been helped by the clubs.
She had been out of work for several months and needed extra help in addition to what JobCentre Plus could offer. She found out about the clubs via a voluntary professionals network.
Louise said: “Although I initially just wanted to get back to work, I was also quite attracted to the idea of starting my own business, so as well as attending the weekly sessions of the Jobs Club, I also started attending the Enterprise Club which focuses on helping would-be entrepreneurs get started.”
Support from the clubs gave her confidence and helped her to set up a new coaching business Find Your Dream.
She said: “I found the whole experience so rewarding that I’ve now become a mentor myself!”
