TASTY hog roasts, carols, magical lantern parades, enchanting grottos, break dancing Santas and even a few reindeer – it’s all going on in Warrington this Christmas.
In a Christmas collaboration, the borough council and Culture Warrington are providing a seasonal programme packed full of events and activities for everyone to enjoy.
In the run up to the big day, the town centre including Bridge Street, Market Gate, Cultural Quarter and Golden Square will be bursting with festive activity.
The lights switch on provided a great start to the festivities and the programme is now in full flow with St Andrew’s Day Festival (1 Dec) and a whole sleigh full of Christmas gift cabins, workshops and street animation (2-22 Dec) coming next.
Cllr Mike Hannon, deputy leader for the council, said: “Our Christmas collaboration with Culture Warrington has resulted in an excellent programme of events and activities to add even more sparkle and enjoyment to your festive plans.
“With children’s activities, food festivals, comedy shows, pantos and Christmas cabins to name but a few we believe there is something for everyone. So whether it’s Christmas shopping, a day out with the kids or work night out – wrap up warm and bring your family, your friends and your Christmas spirit to Warrington town centre.”
Cllr Russ Bowden, the council’s executive member for corporate resources and assignments said: “There is a great choice of events designed to bring us together as a community and have fun but there is more to it than that. Along with all the people who have helped and are part of this programme including local businesses and traders we have worked hard to bring you events that will have a positive impact on the town. Our events will help boost the local economy, increase footfall within the town centre, provide unique and quality goods and food and promote Warrington as a destination of choice – the list of benefits is huge. We are confident that not only will people have a great time but it will result in many more benefits for the town.”
Managing director Jan Souness said “Culture Warrington is delighted to be collaborating with the council in offering a wide range of festive events and activities for all ages. We are also proud to be working with local businesses to create the Cultural Quarter Partnership.
“We are looking forward to holding the Christmas in the Cultural Quarter food festival which is a new and exciting offer for Warrington and represents the beginning of a longer term programme of work to reinvigorate Warrington’s Cultural Quarter.”
