Green business forum

1

BUSINESSES concerned about green issues may be interested in joining a forum being set up by Warrington Borough Council.
The aim is to enable local business to network and discuss environmental challenges and opportunities. Anyone interested in getting involved should complete the survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SMF6DQ3
The council says that with the introduction of the Carbon Reduction Commitment for larger organisations, rising fuel prices and the problems of the recession, tackling sustainability goes hand in hand with making efficiency savings.
Cllr Linda Dirir, the council’s executive member for highways, transportation and climate change, said: “We’re working towards our carbon management plan which aims to reduce our carbon emissions by 40 per cent by 2015.
“We want to know what sustainability issues you’re interested in and what you’d be looking for from a green business forum.”

  1. This is a good idea which will hopefully be embraced by the business community. The Climate Change Board have been making good progress in making carbon savings and introducing new initiatives in their estate management of buildings and it would be good to share those. For example they invited several schools in Warrington to trial measures to reduce energy costs in a greener way and these can now be shared with a wider community.
