A MAJOR conference looking at how help can be given to people sleeping rough or at risk of becoming homeless is to be held at Warrington.
The borough council is inviting residents and businesses to the event at The Gateway, Sankey Street on Thursday October 18 from 9.30am to 3pm.
Speakers will include Paul Connery, regional manager of Homeless Link, and the Rev Stephen Kingsnorth, with presentations from the main organisations in Warrington working to support rough sleepers.
The conference will take a look at the virtual journey that might be followed by someone sleeping rough in Warrington and ask people to consider what they or their organisations can do to help.
Cllr David Keane (pictured), the borough council’s executive member for environment and public protection, said: “We’re committed to providing support to people who are sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness.
“This event gives everyone in the community an opportunity to get involved with the ongoing delivery of our rough sleeper strategy, which aims to decrease the number of rough sleepers on our streets to as near to zero as possible.”
There will be chance to network with other organisations, and voluntary and faith groups working in Warrington to support rough sleepers.
The conference is free to attend and lunch will be provided.
Anyone who would like to attend can book a place by contacting [email protected] or telephoning 01925 246891 by Monday October 15.
