Beauty salon sign rejected

PLANNERS have thrown out a retrospective applicant for permission for a sign outside a beauty salon at Stockton Heath.
Members of Warrington Borough Council’s planning committee rejected the application by Uber Beauty, of London Road, Stockton Heath and visiting the site and also having talks with the applicants.
Stockton Heath Parish Council had opposed the scheme on the grounds the sign – which had been erected without permission – was overbearing on the street scene,
could distract motorists and pedestrians and also set a precedent for more similar signs.
A plan to use the former house as a beauty salon was approved retrospectively last year.
Planning officers recommended the sign be approved and said they could see no detrimental impact on visual amenity, public or highway safety.
