Free course for jobless youngsters

A FREE course is to be run in Warrington for unemployed youngsters aged 16-19 who would like to begin a career in sport or with young people.
Positive Futures is to run the six-week course, starting on Monday July 16, for young people not in employment or education.
Young people taking part in the scheme will earn a CRB check and qualifications in safeguarding children, first aid, equality and diversity and teaching orienteering.
The course is sponsored by the Sports Coaching and Leadership Award. Each participant will be able to choose a National governing body level 1 award in the sport of their choice.

  1. This sounds like a good move by Positive Futures (who have been working hard on the Fearnhead TGIF project) and the building block for youngsters to get on the first rung of a career ladder in sport’s coaching.

    Ok it’s a short course but I know from experience that sometimes that is all that some NEET youngsters need and a lot can be packed into that time frame. It’s often just the opportunity or the chance they need to see what they can do and most importantly gain confidence in their own ability.

    Hopefully this can be the start for them and with follow on support and guidance that they can begin to realise that they do have potential. It will not be easy by any stretch of imagination but I wish them all well.
