POLICE at Warrington today issued CCTV pictures of a man who punched a boy in the face – and then apologised before walking off.
The incident took place on Wednesday, May 2 at around 11.30am outside the Co-Op store in Insall Rd, Fearnhead.
A 16-year-old boy was waiting to use the cash machine. A man was standing in front of him and, as he turned round, he bumped into the victim.
The man spoke to the boy and then, without warning punched him in the face hitting him in his right eye, before walking off.
A short time later the man returned and apologised to the victim before walking off again.
The boy attended Warrington Hospital to be checked over. He sustained bruising to his face as a result of the incident.
Police say the offender was around 5ft 9 inches tall, about 30-35-years-old and had and had short mousey coloured hair and a pale complexion.
PC Amanda Chambers said: “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or knows the identity of the offender to come forward.
“We would urge anyone who was in the area around that time and may have seen the man to contact us.”
Anyone with any information should call Cheshire Police on 101. Information can also be left anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
