Second place for Barry

AT the start of the Formula Ford 1600 Northern Championship race, Warrington driver Barry Linley was lying only two points behind the championship leader Stuart Jones.
Barry qualified on the front row of the grid at Oulton Park, alongside Jones for the race. It was a 10 lap battle with him for the lead but Barry’s luck ran out suffering transmission problems on the last lap.
He could only manage to coast over the line to finish second and park up a few yards after taking the chequered flag.
Barry was driving his Van Diemen RF86 car and his time for the 10 lap race was18:53.902 an average speed for the race of 85.46mph.
