Anniversary buses at the double

LOCAL bus company Network Warrington has unveiled two special anniversay buses – one to mark the 110th anniversary of the company and another to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and her forthcoming visit to the town.
During a special ceremony held at Warrington Town Hall, in front of invited guests, including local business leaders; civic leaders, the press and the company’s longest serving employees, the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr. Mike Biggin, (pictured above) unveiled the bus, which features photos of trams and buses through the ages.
Network Warrington Managing Director David Squire, said: “110 years is a fantastic achievement, and we are proud to have served the people of Warrington for such a long time. 2012 will see a number of new initiatives announced, and these together with the recent announcement of funding to assist us in buying some diesel-electric hybrid buses will keep Network Warrington at the forefront of industry developments.”
“The bus will be used across our network, so customers will get a chance to ride on it, and it will be a familiar site on the roads for both residents and visitors to the town to enjoy, we will also be taking it to a number of events in the town.
Meanwhile the bus celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and forthcoming visit to the town on May 17, features the special Diamond Jubilee logo which was designed by children in a Blue Peter competition held last year; this logo is the official emblem for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Year.
Mr Squire added: “It is great news for the town that the Queen is visiting us to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee, we are delighted to have been able to commemorate these important events by providing a bus in a dedicated livery, which will be seen on our services around the town for the next 12 months.”
The bus will be a familiar site on the roads of Warrington, for customers, residents and visitors to enjoy, and it will be appearing at a number of events in the town.
