River rescue

FIRE crews using ropes and two boats rescued a man from the Manchester Ship Canal at Thelwall, Warrington.
The man was in the water standing on a sluice gate in the canal at Thelwall on Friday evening. Police secured a life ring on the man, before the fire crews arrived.
He was rescued from the sluice gate using ropes and the boats. He was not injured apart from the cold.
