Woman trapped in car crash

A WOMAN was trapped in a car for almost an hour after a collision involving two saloon cars in Stockport Road, Grappenhall, Warrington.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 4.30pm yesterday.
Fire crews from Stockton Heath and Warrington managed to release the woman, who was taken to hospital by ambulance. She was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Stockport Road was closed by the police while the rescue operation went on.
Earlier, fire crews from Warrington were called to Cromwell Avenue, Great Sankey, when a saloon car caught fire. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hosereel jet to extinguish the flames. Police controlled traffic without needing to close the road.
