WARRINGTON’s young people have voted in the town’s two new members of the Youth Parliament (MYP).
They are Culcheth High School pupil Joel Davies, representing the north of the borough and Steven Atkins, a pupil at St Gregory’s RC High, representing the south.
Their deputies are Amin Abdelhamid, north and Mo Adeniran, south.
Joel Davies said: “This is something I have wanted for a long time and I am proud to take on this role. I am really looking forward to meeting other young people and finding out what issues are important to them and seeing what I can do to help them.”
Steven Atkins, said: “I see this as an important role in terms of representing all young people in Warrington and being the voice for their views and concerns. I am really looking forward to making a difference and fighting for the things that young people want and deserve.”
Kath O’Dwyer, Warrington Borough Council’s director for children and young people services, said: “This is a very impressive group of young people who are dedicated and passionate about their new roles.
“I have every confidence in their abilities and we are looking forward to working with them closely over the next two years to further improve services that matter most to them and their peers. I wish them the best of luck.”
The elections are run by Warrington Youth Service.
