AN innovative shared adoption service launched in Warrington has been welcomed by local councillors.
Last week it was reported that Warrington, Wigan and St Helens have created the new WWiSH shared adoption team to widen the choice for people seeking to adopt children. 
It aims to bridge the gap between children seeking adoption and people wishing to adopt, and find homes for the 56 children needing adoptive families in the three areas.
Cllr Colin Froggatt, (pictured right) executive board member for children and young people’s services at Warrington Borough Council said: “This has been a long-time in the planning and is a move to attract more adopters which is a national problem. The new shared service will be more efficient and effective and has brought a wealth of experience together into one dedicated team.”
Councillors from Wigan and St Helens have also welcomed the move.
The new WWiSH (Warrington, Wigan and St.Helens) shared team is based at Oaklands, 196a Newton Road, Lowton, Wigan and is now fully registered with Ofsted.
