Hunt for rapist stepped up

POLICE hunting an alleged rapist Warrington have issued an e-fit of a man they want to question.
The attack took place in School Road, Orford, on Sunday, February 12 at around 10.45pm.
A 14-year-old girl was stopped and spoken to by a man, who then subjected her to a serious sexual assault.
DS Mike Evans, of the police dedicated rape unit, said: “We are continuing to follow-up a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident, including forensic enquiries, house-to-house enquiries and CCTV enquiries.
“A number of people have come forward with information since the initial appeal and we are grateful to them for contacting us.
“We are making a further appeal for information from the public and are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have any information in relation to the identity of the offender.
“We take all incidents of this nature extremely seriously and will do all we can to trace the offender and ensure he is brought to justice.”
The man is described as white, aged in his 20s-30s, around 5ft 9 inches tall, of medium build with short dark hair.
He had a stubbly beard, spoke with a local accent and was wearing a black tracksuit and pink and red woollen gloves.
Patrols have been stepped up in the area to offer reassurance to the local community.
A 23-year-old local man was arrested in the area shortly after the incident. He was interviewed by police but subsequently bailed pending further enquiries. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or through the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
The incident was first reported by Warrington-Worldwide on February 14.
