THREE men – one armed with a machete-style knife – burst into a Co-op store at Warrington.
They got away with a quantity of cigarettes after punched a shop assistant in the face.
The raid was at the Co-op in Common Lane, Culcheth at about 9.05pm on Saturday (February 18)
Police are now appealing for witnesses.
During the raid, one offender jumped over a counter to grab cigarettes from a display. Another, who was carrying a duvet cover, punched a sales assistant in the face.
During the raid, a third offender stood near the door with a machete style knife.
After filling the duvet cover with cigarettes all three men fled the scene in a grey Audi.
The sales assistant – a 21-year-old man – suffered swelling to the right side of his face and a small cut to the inside of his mouth. He was left shaken by the incident but did not need hospital treatment.
DC Nick Talbot said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or may have any information, which might assist with our enquiries, to come forward.
“We are also urging anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously to get in touch. The offenders fled the scene in a grey Audi – the car turned left out of the car park travelling along Warrington Road at speed.”
The first offender was about 5ft 11 inches, slim and wearing a black woollen balaclava, black gloves, a red and black waterproof jacket with the hood pulled up over his face and dark trousers.
The second man was about 5ft 10 inches tall and was wearing a black woollen balaclava and black gloves. The knife man was around 5ft inches tall and of medium build. He was wearing dark clothing.

There can’t be many 5ft tall knife wielding scumbags round here.. Should be easy to track him down. Sleep well shorty!
