Bumpy road to be smoothed over

WORK is about to start on resurfacing one of Culcheth’s bumpiest roads – after a wait of three years.
Borough council contractors will start work in Lodge Drive, between Common Lane and Culcheth Hall Drive, on March 5.
The project is expected to take about five weeks but to minimise disruptions to residents, motorists and shopkeepers, it will be carried out in phases, between 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Lodge Drive is pitted with potholes, largely caused by the last two severe winters. A diversion will be signposted via Common Lane and Warrington Road,
Letters have been sent to residents and businesses in the immediate area and information boards also erected on site.
Labour campaigner Chris Vobe says he has been fighting for three years to get the work carried out.
He said: “This work is long overdue and much deserved for residents along Lodge Drive and the surrounding area. For years, we have had to suffer with a patchwork of pot holes that have left this part of the village looking unkempt and uncared for.”
