POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an arson attack on a flat at Warrington in the early hours of the morning.
The incident – reported by Warrington-Worldwide yesterday – involved a property in Cabul Close, Orford.
A 27-year-old man escaped unharmed, but was taken to hospital for a check-up
Inspector Andy Ross, of Warrington Police, said: “Fortunately no-one was injured as a result of the incident but the consequences could have potentially been far worse had the fire not been put out so quickly.
“Someone was inside the property at the time and there was a real chance the fire could have spread. Whoever is responsible needs to realise the impact of their actions as they put lives at risk.
“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, knows who is responsible, or has any information, which might assist with our enquiries, to get in touch.
“We are also appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and has seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact us.”
Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
