A black belt – and a black eye!

A WARRINGTON businessman earned a black belt in Martial Arts and a black eye on the same evening.
Electrician and plumber Steven Brotherston, 37, has been studying kickboxing for more than three years.
He has worked his way through the grades and recently achieved the black belt accolade – and during the grading battle suffered a black eye.
Steve, a former Lymm High School pupil who plays darts at the Bulls Head in the village, trains at the Warrington Kickboxing Studio (Wolf Gym).
He said: “It feels pretty good to achieve this. I have been aiming for this grade since I started kickboxing. Everyone was amused by the black eye.”
Steve, who is married and lives in Woolston, started the sport to keep fit. He attends the gym about four times a week and does other training such as running about twice a week.
