DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after thieves targeted a sandwich bar at Warrington last night.
Shortly after 10.25pm, officers responded to an alarm activation at Subway in Liverpool Road, Great Sankey.
Two men had burst into the premises, threatening to produce a knife, and made demands for cash from the safe.
The pair made their getaway on foot stealing the contents of the safe and heading in the direction of Lingley Road.
Nobody was injured during the robbery.
Inspector Dave Griffiths said: “This incident took place on a busy road and we would ask that any local residents or passing motorists who may have seen the robbery take place, to contact us.
“In October last year the sandwich bar was robbed in similar circumstances and a quick response from police led to the arrest of three men the same evening. We will act on any information we receive from the public”
Any witnesses are asked to contact Warrington CID on 101 or, anonymously, with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
