Planners to inspect homes site

COUNCILLORS are to visit the site of a proposed housing development at Warrington before deciding if the scheme can go ahead.
Members of the borough council’s planning committee will visit the site at the junction of Delenty Drive and Powell Avenue, Birchwood.
The scheme involves six detached houses on the site of an existing, derelict house. Three detached garages would also be built on the land and a footpath provided along the Powell Avenue frontage.
A number of residents have lodged objections although one nearby householders has welcomes the scheme because it would result in the removal of the derelict house which had been “unwanted and uncared for” for many years.
Planners are recommending the scheme be approved.
Birchwood Town Council is not opposed to the project, but is concerned that verban and non-verbal agreements made between the developer and residents should be formally documented.
Five years ago, an application to build a 50-bed care home on the site was refused.
