Olympic torch volunteers wanted

AN army of volunteer stewards is needed to assist with the Olympic Torch Relay as it passes through Warrington.
The borough council wants to recruit the volunteers to help out on Thursday, May 31.
London 2012 organisers are anticipating a high turn out across the country as people say they want to see the torch being carried through their streets by local people.
Stewards will be crucial to the success of the event in the borough, as they will help make the day a safe and enjoyable one for both spectators and torchbearers.
Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Tom Howarth on 01925 444110 or email [email protected] by the end of the month. Training will be given.
The council believes there may be other volunteering opportunities in the town in relation to the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations in the town. Plans to mark this occasion are still in development and details will be available later in the year.
