Man in court on arson charge

A MAN has appeared in court at Warrington today charged with arson, following a fire at a block of flats in the town.
The 20-year-old was charged with one offence of arson with intent to endanger life and one of assault.
He was remanded in custody by Warrington Magistrates to appear again on February 27.
The alleged incident was at Peninsula House, in O’Leary Street, Warrington on Wednesday morning.
After the hearing, DC Tom Hall, of Warrington CID, said: “We are committed to tackling arson incidents in Warrington. We want to reassure members of the local community that we take any incidents of this nature seriously and will do all we can to trace those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.
“Patrols have been stepped up in the area, officers are speaking to local people and we would urge any residents who have any concerns to contact the local neighbourhood policing team.”
