A LOCAL charity has acknowledged the “overwhelming” generosity of the people of Cheshire in helping it double donations as part of the “Big Give” Christmas fundraising challenge.
To qualify for the pound-for-pound match-funding from Big Give, Deafness Support Network (DSN), which has offices in Warrington, needed to raise a minimum of £1,500 worth of pledges during a period of six months from July to December.
DSN then went through to the online donations stage of the challenge, attracting a total of £8,000.
DSN fundraising manager Angela Burrows said: “We appealed to supporters, businesses and the public and the response was just phenomenal.
Money raised will help maintain DSN’s Family Tactics service which provides tailored support in the homes of families where a child or adult is deaf or hard of hearing.
Ms Burrows said: “This was such a fantastic opportunity to secure additional funding and it means that the Family Tactics service, which makes such a difference to the families involved, can be continued.”
DSN provides a wide ranger of services for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people, ranging from technical and youth services to supported living and family tactics.
