Car fire on motorway slip road

THE occupants of a car escaped unhurt after fire broke out in the engine compartment on a motorway sliproad near
Warrington.
Fire crews from Birchwood, Northwich and Knutsford were sent to the scene on the sliproad at Junction 20, Lymm.
The crew from Knutsford were at the scene first and discovered a fire in the engine compartment which they extinguished using a hose reel jet. Other fire engines were informed and returns to their stations.
The car driver had managed to get his vehicle off the carriageway so traffic hold-ups were minimised. No-one was hurt.
