Robbers escape with cash

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a Tesco Express Store in Warrington which left members of staff badly shaken as two men got away with a quantity of cash from a till.
The incident took place yesterday, Sunday (January 29) at the Tesco Express store in Manchester Road at around 11.20pm when staff were cashing up at the till area when the doors to the premises were closed at the time.
Two men approached the store, forced open the sliding glass doors and entered the building.
They made their way to the till area and demanded money before fleeing the scene with a quantity of cash.
DC Steve Deehan said: “The staff were not injured as a result of the incident but they were left shaken by their ordeal.
“We are appealing for anyone who has any information in relation to the robbery to contact us immediately.
“Although the shop was closed at the time of the incident someone may have seen the offenders fleeing the scene and we would appeal for them to come forward.
“We would also urge anyone with any information regarding the identity of the offenders to get in touch.”
The first offender is described as white, aged in his late 30s, 5? 8″ tall, of medium build with dark stubble.
He was wearing a dark coloured deerstalker hat, a grey woollen coat with the collar turned up and gloves. He spoke with a local accent.
The second offender is described as white, also in his late 30s, 5? 9″ tall and of average build. He was wearing blue jeans, a dark coloured top and black gloves.
Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 895 of 29 January.
