A wind assisted goal direct from a corner kick by Matty Cross secured
all three points for Warrington Town at a wind swept Farsley.
The goal came after just 10 minutes as gale force conditions made it near impossible to play free flowing football for either side.
It was Warrington who adapted better to the conditions with an excellent defensive display as keeper Chris Oldfield had to play on one leg from the 15th minute after suffering an ankle injury in a challenge for the ball.
Fortunately he had little to do thanks to the sterling efforts of the back four.
Meanwhile up front the industrious Anthony Hickey and Lee Madin, assisted by Allan Collins, ensured the home team were kept busy on the counter attack.
Victory ensured Warrington remain unbeaten in 2012 and yet to conceed a goal this year!
Next up is the visit of Rhodri Giggs’ Salford next Saturday, kick off 3pm.
