Girl escapes from sex attacker

A TEENAGE girl managed to escape after suffering a sex attack at Warrington.
Police have issued an E-fit picture of the attacker and are appealing for help from the public.
The attack was on Thursday, January 5 sometime between 8pm and 9pm in Green Lane, Padgate.
A 15-year-old girl was walking along Green Lane and as she reached a gate leading into a park, a man grabbed her from the back and swung her round to face him. He put his hand down her jeans.
She struggled and managed to break free and run away. The man followed for a short distance but then stopped.
Police say the man was in his late teens with dark, shaven hair. His face was quite thin, with wide eyes and a sharp nose. He had stubble on his outer cheeks.
He was wearing a black waterproof hooded coat with a white fluorescent emblem in the middle of the chest. It also had elasticated cuffs. He was wearing grey jogging bottoms of a sweatshirt material. He also smelt of smoke.
PC Charlotte Higgins said: “We are urging anyone who has any information in relation to the incident or knows the identity of the offender to get in touch immediately.
“Thankfully incidents such as this are rare, but we would like to remind women to be extra vigilant when walking alone at night.
“Maintain an awareness of your surroundings and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.”
