POLICE are appealing for information following an arson attack on a Warrington home when inflammable liquid was poured through a letterbox.
At just after 2am on 29th December, Cheshire Police and other emergency services were called to a report of a fire inside a house on Fitzherbert Street.
The fire was quickly extinguished and the sole occupant of the premises was unharmed. No evacuations were necessary as the fire was minimal and quickly brought under control.
A 45 year-old local woman was been arrested on suspicion of arson and following interview by Police, was released without charge.
DC Neil Radley said “We are now investigating the circumstances of the fire as it is apparent that the fire was caused by some form of accelerant being poured through the letterbox and then ignited. Fortunately nobody was harmed but the potential repercussions are very serious had the fire not been quickly extinguished.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Radley at Warrington CID on 101.
