WARRINGTON’S Walton Hall Golf Club has been selected by the England Golf Partnership to run a new youth development programme in the area. The project aims to help young people keep active and enjoy structured leisure time through golf.
Walton staff will be trying to make golf more accessible to the local community by offering taster sessions at nearby schools.
The golf club currently runs junior “roll up” sessions on Saturday mornings for all abilities. The cost is £5 per day and includes expert PGA professional tuition as part of a structured learning programme.
Regular attendees work through the “Golf Passport,” enabling them to learn and earn their handicap before going on to play in club competitions.
Director of golf at the club, Paul Hodgson, said: “We look forward to welcoming more young players to the game; it is an exciting sport that instils many positive values in youngsters like honesty, co-operation, self-motivation and perseverance. Skills that will be prove invaluable throughout their whole life.”
The club can be contacted on 01925 263061 or by emailing [email protected]
